Do you mean for outlook? If so, just open outlook address book -> click view -> click sort by -> click name -> it will now ungray the First Name & Last Name selections -> you can then choose from there!!!

No, I mean for any program. I work at a library where thousands of author's names must be reversed by hand, I'd like to create some kind of macro or batch program to do it automatically.

You can then use the CONCATENATE formula to properly merge the names back together.
I have placed the information from the MS article along with working examples wiht the formulas intact. You can download a copy of that workbook by right clicking the following link and selecting "Save target as": SeparatingNames.xls 18kb.
