Result line adding all the lline returning NO

March 23, 2011 at 07:55:44
Specs: Excel
I am creating a spreadsheet in Excel and I have column C holding the value of the response "NO" or "YES". I am trying to set a cell to hold the value of all that replyed "NO".
Ex. C4 through C64 is either "NO" or "YES"
I want G32 to show the total "NO"s
Is there a way to check all the cell c4 through c64?
Right now I am using this
=(IF(C29="NO","1","0"))+(IF(C43="NO","1","0"))
but I would have to write this for each cell I wanted checked. Is there an easier way?

You want the =COUNTIF() function:

=COUNTIF(C4:C64,"NO")

or

=COUNTIF(C4:C64,"YES")

Thank you. It has been 8 years since I graduated and I now do accounting so I lost all my computer science skills. I know it was a simple answer.
