Ok am looking at a new computer. It will tell you Operating Systems Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition SP1. But then you look and see whats In the box they seen It will say restore CD. What all does this mean? Do you use this CD until you get the real thing. Would you need an upgrade or full version? Thank you all.

You question is rather confusing. Are you looking to buy a new computer that has Windows XP installed on it? If so, the Recovery CD will come with the computer. Basically what the Recovery CD does is restore your computer to its original state...to all software and hardware configurations when it was new.

I hope I understood what you're asking..and that I answered your question.

I think has the correct information.

However, I have a new Dell and it came with a Restore CD but it is actually an OEM copy of WinXP.
The restore to factory files are loaded to a hidden partition on the hard drive and is envoked by hitting Alt+F11 during a boot up.

I don't expect to ever use the Restore to factory settings but I do expect to, perhaps, need the XP installation CD to perform repairs to the OS or even a complete reinstall.

I am sorry that I was unable to explain myself better. But after reading both replies I got enough information for my question. Thank you both for you help and time.

"I think has the correct information."

I swore that I typed "Jenn" in the middle of that sentence so that it should have read:
"I think Jenn has the correct information."
