I'm trying to disable the 'Getting Started' sidebar that appears in Office 2003. I've unchecked the Task pane in Options but that's obviously not enough! Is there another box somewhere cos I can't find it. I wish MS would stop trying to be 'helpful!'

Launch Word, and go to Tools, Options. On the View tab, take the checkmark out of "Startup Task Pane". You will have to do this for Excell as well.

thanks for the response. that was the first thing I tried and it doesn't make a difference. iv enabled it then quit then disabled it and still no luck :( i've upgraded it so i might have to do a clean install next???
