Unfortunately my hard drive crashed and I didn't have a ghost image of the drive. Need to reinstall Office 2003 Student & Teacher Edition. It comes with 3 installs. I used the first install on my kid's laptop and used the 2nd install on the computer with the drive that crashed. I do not want to use my 3rd install by installing it on my new drive. Any thoughts on how I can "re-use" the 2nd installation?

You misunderstand. It's not three installs. The EULA allows for you to run it on three computers in one household. You're now currently running it on only one. You could still install it on two more computers. So, install it on the new load of yours, and if you buy another computer, you can install it on that as well.

How does the software know how many computers I installed it on in my house? When you install it does it transmit some sort of unique code from each of my computers to Microsoft?
