My Outlook file is 120MB. I have archive files but it's getting too big. Is it better to have a smaller Outlook file? Was is the ideal size? I think I've answered my own question but are there guideliness and how can I make my slow Outlook a bit faster. Thanks for any tipps or sites.

120 MB for a pst file is fine and very small, actually. 92-2002 format pst files have a 2 GB limitation. Once the file gets over 1.9 Gig, problems occur. 2003 format pst files have a limit of 10 Gig, but I wouldn't push that limit.
So, to answer your first two questions; It's better to have smaller than 1.8 Gig. There's no ideal size.
As far as how to make your "slow" Outlook faster, you haven't supply enough information. What's your processor speed? How much RAM do you have? "Not enough" may be applicable, but it's not a measurement.

I have 512 RAM and 2.8 Athlon XP.
My Outlook is slow... and I thought if I reduce the .pst file it might go faster. It's a big taste to reduce the folders but I would do it if it helps.
2GB, that's big. I notice the data-binding takes long at first, then the second time you start Outlook it goes faster.

Your processor and RAM are more than sufficient. I don't think your pst file is the problem. 120MB is really very small. If it's taking several minutes to open, then it may be all the other processes you have running.
