Hello,
I am experiencing the following scenario:

I have a laptop with Win98 (American language version) and Outlook 2000 (American version) installed. Via the Export option I exported all my folders into a Personal Folder file (pst. format),and copied the file unto a cd-rom. After copying this file unto my new WinXP (Danish language version) computer, I removed the 'Read-Only' check-point from the file (that the transfer to the cd-rom had created in the the file's properties). This is the solution to the problem described below according to the Microsoft support site.

Then I go through the Import wizard in Outlook 2000 on my new WinXP computer, and when I select the .pst file I get the following message: 'Personal Folders:
Properties for this information service must be defined prior to use.' When I then click 'OK', then this message appears: 'This is not a Personal Folder File'. This error message is different than the one I found on the Microsoft Support site (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;258468&Product=out2K). This happens with three different .pst files that I have no problems with re-importing in Outlook on Win98, so it seems as if the files are valid .pst files.

If anyone has a suggestion how to solve this one, it would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards

Peter

This error will occur if your pst file is marked read-only.

Right-Click the file, goto properties - uncheck the box labeled 'Read-only'
