.pst file problem offic3 2003

I had to reformat my hard drive and backup up my impt emails and burned a cd. Now when I try to import them it sats the file is not a pst file..Ive tried several fix tool in microsoft and private programs like bad copy but clearly although the file has a pst extension its not a pst file or it corrupted..I would be satisfied with just manually being able to read the file to grab some impt information larry

Remember that when you burn the file to a cd, the file takes on the attributes of the cd, which is read only. Highlight the pst file and change the file attributes to Read/Write, etc. You may then be able to open it normally. Larry
