I downloaded Belarc to view details from my PC, but now every time I try to open Control Panel, or even shut down my computer, I can't, the Belarc Installation window pops up again and again as though it's a virus or something. I have tried to uninstall it but I can't even go to Add/Remove Programs anymore as it just pops straight up and doesn't let me go any further. Does anyone have any ideas HOW to get rid of Belarc once and for all???

Well depending how well you can edit the registry...
I could suggest, if you are confident, that you could trawl through the registry and delete all reference to the Belarc software.
Once you have done that then delete it out of the startup list and also delete the program file itself.

Just a reminder be very careful when working with the registry editor, and always make a backup before you start modifying it!

Hope this helps, Let me know.
Best Regards,

Anna, were you having problems before installing Belarc Advisor? There was a reason you wanted to use this program.

Many have used it, including myself, without a single complaint.

Does the possibility exist that either you already had a virus that has now infected Belarc or that the download was infected?

Did you download it form the Belarc site or another site? I just downloaded it from that site, scanned for virus with McAfee that was updated tonite and it came up as clean.

Have you tried completing the installation after it pops up?

Bryan

I downloaded in from the Belarc Website and installed it straight away. It installed fine and gave me the info I required regarding my computer (which was why I initially downloaded it). I still can't do anything else now thought, can't open Control Panel, I can't even open the clock in the bottom corner of the screen without the Belarc window popping up. Is there ANY way to get rid of it? I can't even get into add/remove software as the Belarc Window just pops up again and again!
