Specs: Windows XP
Hi everyone, this is my first post! I transfered "My Documents" to a new machine via an external USB HDD. The old machine is XP Home 32bit with Office 2003 Pro, and the new, 7 Ultimate 64bit with Office Professional 2010. All my Word documents containing screenshots of web pages are missing the right hand side of the screenshot. It is about 20% of the screenshot's width and obviously important stuff is now missing.Luckily, I had not deleted the old files so I can copy them again providing that I can find out why this is happening and fix it. I tried copying/pasting each screenshot into MS Paint but I have literally hundreds of such files containing thousands of screenshots from college assignments and emails.I would be eternally grateful to anyone with a quick solution?

I don't know about 2010, but Word 2007 docx files are essentially zip files.
If you "open" it, using say 7Zip, you will see several sub-directories with xml type files.
Under the sub-dir called "word" there is another sub-dir called "media".
It appears that this is where screen shots, which have been inserted, are stored.
They are stored as .PNG file types.

You might be able to check and see if your pics are of the correct size.
If they are complete, then there may be some option you can tweek to
get them to display correctly.

Happy Hunting.

Sorry can't be of more help.

Hi Mike, I found that the files are "complete" but they were just mis-formatted for 2010. The offending files were in fact restricted only to screenshots of web pages of emails (thankfully). All the offending documents turned-out to be saved with Rich Text Format extensions (.rtf) and not Word (.doc).???Don't ask me why because I have no idea. The screenshots would not respond to dragging to the left until I moved the margin first. Then I had to drag the screenshot to the right from its corner to reduce its overall size. Then with the button (half way up the LHS of the screenshot) I could drag it to the LHS margin and adjust the size again to meet the RHS margin. What a palava!!!!! Anyway, it is now sorted-out and many thanks to you Mike for helping out.Incidentally, I re-saved them as .doc files and then deleted the original .rtf file.
