Problem with Outlook Express 6

Hi. I use Outlook Express 6. Whenever I try to post a message to a newsgroup, the standard toolbar at the top doesn't change. It still reads "Create mail" rather than "New Post" at the top left hand side.. In effect, this means, I can't use the newsreader that comes with Outlook Express. Can anyone help me here?

I don't use newsgroups, but my hunch is this: Do you have Outlook installed too, and if so, is that set as the default newsreader instead of Outlook Express? Check the settings in each to determine this.

I do have Outlook installed. I set Outlook Express as the default newsreader and it makes no difference. I don't think Outlook has a newsreader. I can get around the problem by setting the program to open up not with the inbox but the introduction screen. From there, I can click new news message. Still, I was used to the other method (i.e. accessing my newsreader from the e-mail inbox) for years and now I can't do that any more (for some reason that evades me).
