I am having a problem with MS word 2003. Whenever you start work it takes a few seconds before it allows you to type anything. also word seems to merge in MS Outlook emails and they seem to blend on the screeen. This slows the computer down and makes it freeze.

Do other applications start slowly or otherwise act strange? If so, i would run CHKDSK c: /f from a command prompt and reboot. (at a command prompt, type chkdsk /? for a list of options). After you reboot, defrag your HD. Does that help? IF so, perform the above on a regular basis.
