Folks, getting the following error when attempting to print a ppt slide:
"error syntax error offending command"
Then...
"warning: windows can't print due to printer setup error"
Sometimes the background only will print after receiving this error...not printing anything else on the slide.
We've tried different printers, and they all give this error.
This only happens on one particular presentation. Copying it doesn't seem to fix the problem.
I've searched the MSKB, paying special attention to 282833, but unfortunately, this doesn't apply to my situation.
Any helpful suggestions much appreciated... Thanks..

Well Jennifer, your our resident guru around here on MS Office products. If you can't figure it out, then I don't know if we stand a chance.
Is it erroring out on one particular slide or the whole show? What version of PPT was it created from? Does this slideshow contain sensitive information or could you post it somewhere and we could have a look at it?

Powerpoint version is 2002 SP2. The entire presentation at one point printed. Then the user just wanted to print one slide. The slide printed after awhile (according to her), however, only the background printed...not the text or graphics. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the slides, I can't post them anywhere...

I've seen issues like this before. Are they using PCL5 or Postscript drivers on the printer? If they are using PCL5, try Postscript and vice-versa if they are using Postscript. And I bet they are printing to an HP printer. If they have a different brand such as Xerox or Cannon have them try that.

The problem is happening on all printers, Xerox, HP, etc... so all different drivers are already being used. However, if the user prints locally, then it's fine. This is only one particular presentation. All other ppts print fine... no errors.

This is happening with me as well. This happens with 1 particular slide in an entire presentation.I have further narrowed down the troublemaker to be a simple text box.I recreated the text box myself and typed the contents again but I still get the offending command error.Any suggestions?
