Hard Drive Does Not Spin Up When Power Is Applied…

I connected a 2.5″ hard drive to one of those IDE-to-USB adapters. If I do nothing more than apply 5 volts to the adapter, can I expect the hard drive to at least spin up?

    1. If everything is working properly, yes, it should spin up as soon as power is applied.
      Make sure you have any jumpers set correctly. Most require the drive seat as Master
