I installed Office 97 on two computers one with Windows 98 and the other Windows 98 SE. I have Office 97 Pro and no matter hard I try I cannot get the pinball game and office 97 completes successfully with no errors. All other easter eggs work though like flight simulator in Excel 97 and Magic Eight Ball in Access 97 and Macerna in Powerpoint 97.

"no matter how hard I try, I cannot get the pinball game". What steps are you going through to play the game? I have the step by step if you need assistance, but I'm curious what you've tried.

Maybe when you installed Office you didn't choose to install the 'pinball' component. Ha ha!

Anyway, did you use the exact same disk for both installs? I know that MS will release a Service Release every now and then that fixes and updates a product. If you installed the original Office 97 on one machine and Office 97 SR-2 on another, they might be the same except that SR-2 has the easter egg(s) removed (MS really doesn't like those).

The other possibility is that an update or a patch you installed on one of the machines might have removed the easter egg(s). I've also heard of this happening, though I think they did it more with Windows than with Office, but who really knows?

Hope that helps.

Are you using SR-2 or do you have SP2 installed on your computer? If you go to the Help menu, then to About you can see what version you are running.

Do note, though that a Service Release (SR) is different than a Service Pack (SP).
