Photo paint 8 shuts down every time I click on view

December 9, 2012 at 18:25:16
Specs: Windows XP, Celeron(R) D 3.33 ghz/2.75 gb RAM
Corel Photo paint 8 After using for many years the toolbars have disappeared. As soon as I click on view (from which I could view and select the toolbar I wanted) I get the message that Photo paint has encountered a problem and needs to shut down, which it promptly does. All of the other items work. I can open, close and save files but there are no tools to work with.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times trying both the express and compact setups and have even tried to run the program directly from the disc but I always encounter the same problem. Do manufactures program a program to self destruct after a period of time or could I have a very specific virus that attacks a specific part of a program?
All other programs are working fully.

Add any new hardware? Like printers or such?

You could try a File System Scan:

Click Start
Select Run
Enter the command: SFC /scannow

SFC /scannow will inspect all of the important Windows files on your computer, including Windows DLL files.
If System File Checker finds an issue with any of these protected files, it will replace it.

See if that helps
