Please help! I have been trying to migrate all my e-mail messages from Outlook 2000 on my home PC (Win XP Home) to my laptop (Outlook XP, Win XP Home). I create a new personal file and place it on my desktop. Copy all messages in outlook to this new folder then close both the folder and Outlook. When I copy this file to my laptop, Outlook refuses to open the file saying "Access Denied". Any suggestions?

Are you using a CD to transfer the file? If you are make sure you change the properties of the file by unchecking "read only".

I suggest you do NOT create a new pst file on your laptop...instead copy your pst from the desktop to the laptop, put wherever you want...then open Outlook and point it to the pst file you copied over...that way I think it will see it ok and open it up...
Another way is to go ahead and create your new pst file... Copy your old pst file over to the laptop... Open Outlook, then go to File > Open > PST file and you can then open your old pst file...you will than have 2 pst files open, the new one you are not using and your old one that you want...
