I have created 3 .pdf forms for my small buisness,
and I've been trying to create form fields so my customers can fill them and send them in via fax or email.

I guess I need an "Idiots Guide to Form Fields".

If there's anyone than can give me or point me to a step by step I'ld be very greatful.

I've tried Acrobats help and felt it just didn't offer enough help.

TIA

jmhandy

As far as I am aware you cant do this with .pdf files as it means your cutomers would have to have the ability to write to .pdfs. If you sent them the document in .rtf or .doc format then they would be able to do it as they could use their word processor(s)

In fact you can. The form I filled out to register my fictitious name is a ".pdf" document. Now granted, the information is not saved to the document when closed, but being as they must be signed any way, once printed the information is on the document.

They've locked it down, so I'm unable to take it apart to see how they did it.

crikey I've not seen that before !!! I agree it's really good if you save it to your desktop it even saves the changes you made really neat !

can't be much help but a clue may be in the properties which say that it was created with quark express 4.1: laserwriter8 8 8.7.1
and acrobat distiller so the answer lies in quark

To make a fill in form you will need the full version of Adobe Acrobat mot the free Acrobat reader.

Yes the original document was made with
quark express 4.1. But when you convert the document over to .pdf using Distiller the properties do not convert with it. The form fields must be created through Acrobat.

I've got the full version of Acrobat 6.0, though as I said in my first post, the "help" file doesn't offer enough "detailed" help for creating form fields.

The steps you follow depend upon the version of Acrobat you have. In Acrobat 7, it takes me forever to find the right menus - 6 was much easier. Anyway, this tutorial might help: http://www5.harlingen.isd.tenet.edu/academy/adobeforms.PDF#search='acrobat%20create%20form'

Does anyone know where I can find Intructions on how to put an E-mail button on a PDF form (in either full Acrobat 5 or 7) so that after a person fills in the form thay can just click the email button and the form will be automatically be emailed to a set address.
Thanks
