Specs: Windows 7
I have checked the appropriate box to have my deleted mail deleted when I exit Outlook 2003. However this does not seem to occur. Any suggestions.

Are you sure you clicked the 'OK' button after ticking that option? If you didn't, that setting will not "stick".

Phil, sorry I took so long getting back here. I did in fact make sure I clicked the "OK" button. In fact I unchecked the empty trash button and then re-checked it and exited Outlook all to no avail. HOWEVER - I found the problem. For some reason the in the list of processes running Outlook was listed twice. I deleted that process and re-started Outlook (and of course all the deleted e-mails were still there) then exited Outlook and all the deleted e-mails were automatically deleted. Problem solved. Had I rebooted my computer during this whole situation then the second Outlook instance would have been wiped out and next time I used Outlook it would work properly and deleted the deleted e-mails on exit.

Thanks for your help.
