On Outlook XP/2002, I have the automatic spellcheck on and set to the UK (I'm in England) dictionary. If I start a message, it scans it fine.
However, if someone in America emails me, when I reply, it seems to do the spellcheck in American english. I can change it back when it highlights a wrong word but it does this everytime I reply to an email that didn't originate in the UK.
It isn't vital, but it is annoying, as I work for a company that prints and makes things from cardboard - I get constantly bugged and told that words like colour, labour, centre, etc are incorrect...when we all know its actually Americans that spell them wrong :P (only kidding)

This is normal behavior.... :)
Why not add those particular words to your Custom Dictionary? Then they won't be detected as being misspelled. :)
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Go to Outlook and click on tools, options, the send tab and uncheck "reply to messages in the format in which they were sent". That should take care of it.

That "reply to messages in format in which they were sent" is only for Outlook Express. I am using MS Outlook XP/2002.
Thanks for your help anyway.
I think I will have to just do as Jennifer said and add the supposed mis-spellings to my dictionary.
It is silly though - american english -> uk english isn't so bad. But what about if I receive an email from someone in France? Does it spellcheck my (english) reply automatically in French?
Just seems odd that anyone would have a positive use for the way it works.
