I'm getting an error message when I try to delete old emails from my Outlook. The message wording is "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook." I've tried that. I have also emptied everything else from my Deleted Items box but there's a whole bunch of emails that WON'T move and cause this error message to appear. I've tried using the Inbox Repair Tool, but it hangs. I also tried to create a new .pst file, but I was advised that I couldn't move my Inbox and other folders into it. Can anyone suggest anything else? I hope there's something I'm missing here, because this is frustrating the heck out of me! Jen in Oz

I have seen this before. The problem I ran into was that the .pst file associated with this was larger than 2GB. In Office 2003, there was a fix for this. However, you will need to use this utility in the KB article to fix your problem if your file is larger than 2GB:

Please make sure that the oversized .pst is the real problem before using this utility, since you might lose some mail.
