If this is a new install, and you weren't running Outlook on this machine, then the Wizard should run so that you can create your email accounts and configure Outlook. For whatever reason, this is not happening.

So, since you're getting that error, I'm assuming there is no other Data File, so all you need to do is go to the Outlook desktop icon, Properties, Data Files, Add, and point to a location where you want your pst file stored. Then, just type in a name for your pst file. Mailbox, Outlook, etc, and click Open.

If there is no other data file listed, then the newly created one will be the Mail Delivery Personal Folder. Click on email accounts and create your email profile.

When you next open Outlook, it will point to the newly created pst file.

Thank you for your answer, Jennifer. I generally use Outlook Express as my email default and I wanted to use Outlook to store some emails that I don´t want to lose.

I did exactly as you said, but when I start Outlook this message appears:UNABLE TO START PROCESSING SERVICES. COULD NOT OPEN THE ITEM.

Hi Jennifer,

I am having a weird problem with my OutLook. It was running fine till I restarted my computer. I use XP. I got the blue screen for a harddisk consistency check. Everything went through fine. I logged in and opened Outlook and got the following error message:
"Unable to start processing services. The file C:\Documents and Settings\Nadeem\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.pst is not a personal folder file"

I tried to run Scanpst.exe but get the error saying the file is too small for recovery. I tried opening outlook.pst and get "0x80040119" error.

Its pretty messed up and I don't know what to do.

Can you please help?

Thanks.

-Nadeem
