Hi!!!
I'm having problems with outlook 2003. I have sent an email with too large an attachment and it is now stuck in my outbox preventing any other messages from being sent.
I have read the earlier thread about working offline and deleting it, however when i select the message and try to delete it nothing happens, no confirmation box or anything. its as if there was no action taken.
When i try to open the message it says "Can't open this item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message."
The message is in my outbox in bold and italic.
Please could someone give me some advice.
Thanks

Whoever has this "solution", please post it here.
Would make a lot easier for what seems to be a significant number of people with this problem.

i would really appreciate the solution - since my email is not working - i can not sent and receive - can someone please post

Try this:
1) Hit ctrl-alt-del once
2) Stop the msmsgs.exe process, this should allow you to delete the outgoing message.

I just fixed it.
During the automatic send/receive cycle I just clicked the status-bar icon in Outlook 2003 and selected “Cancel Send/Receive”, then immediately went to my Outbox, selected the one message and deleted it.
Weird that it wouldn’t allow me to delete the same message at any other time.

Sorry guys!!
i totally forgot about this, my apologies!! here's the solution that i recieved from Jenifer Sumn:I'll make this as simple as I can. :)
We'll try it this way first. If this doesn't work, let me know, and we'll try another, slightly complicated fix.
1. Make sure you're not connected to the net...ISP or cable modem, or whatever.
2. Do a search for your current pst file. Outlook.pst, mailbox.pst, something like that.
3. Make a copy of this file and put the copy in the same folder where the original is. Rename that file to newoutlook.pst
4. Right click on the Outlook icon on your desktop.
5. Select Data Files
6. Add a new File, and browse to the newly created copy.
7. After adding that new pst file, close out the windows, saving the changes you made.
8. Open Outlook.
9. Go to the bottom of the File Folder list (if you can't see it, Click on View, Folder List.)
10. Select the Outbox for the newly created pst file. It should be the bottom pst file.
11. Highlight the message that's "stuck" and click delete.
12. Close Outlook
13. Rename the original pst file to something like outlook.pst.org, or something so that you'll know what it is.
14. Open Outlook again.
15. You should receive an error saying something like your default folders couldn't be opened or your pst file couldn't be found. Then, you will have the option to browse to a valid pst file.
16. Browse to the newly created file and open it.
If you get a message about Delivery has changed, do you want to update, click yes. Then, you'll have to close Outlook and reopen it in order to receive your new mail. (After you've connected to the net of course.)
K. If that doesn't work, let me know, and we'll go again...
I didn’t know exactly what she was on about but managed to work it out with a friend who knows a bit more about computing than me, it seems to work just fine right now, fingers crossed!!
The Don

The "solution" is to simply move the message to another folder in outlook while offline.
I dont know why it wasnt simply posted ;)
