Outlook missing emails

Hello,
Someone I know is using Outlook 2003, and out of nowhere about a months worth of emails just disappeared (emails before and after are still there).
They aren't in any other folders or anything and theres nothing configured that would cause this. The only thing I can think of is that he just started checking his emails on two different computers both using Outlook. Could this cause the problem?
Btw I don't have much chances to talk to the guy or access his computer to check things
