What version of Outlook are you running? In 2000, it's under View, Preview Pane.

it's outlook express 2000. i went to the menu that you suggested, and all the items were checked. the mail doesn't read either, i get the busy arrow, and it just sits. i've tried deleting cookies, running adaware, deleting temp. files, going through all the options, but i still can't figure out why the mail isn't showing up. the mail works on different computers running the same OS.
