Last Friday OE (V6) on my home machine stopped working, in that when checking emails it started asking for my password, which I provided and OE refused, the message being "invalid password". So I re-entered it in OE and still the refusal.
Strange, considering it had been working since a rebuild during the summer of 2004. So I bypassed OE, configured a YAHOO mail account and tried again, and again I received a response which indicated a bad userid/password combination. Ha... must be the DSL provider!
After speaking to VERIZON (DSL supplier) and having my password reset it still refused to work. Perhaps the machine has been compromised? (It is running Win98SE with the latest AVG and ZoneAlarm).
Even stranger, my work machine - also Win98SE - runs OE just fine, and the password is exactly the same.
Any ideas? I took my home machine out of the picture, configured OE on the kids' machine on the home network, and tried again - No good!
Any ideas? What am I missing here?
Tnx
MikeR

Good point and as you say, completely possible. But not this time...
Guess what?
I went back again to Verizon and was told that on occasions the passwords get reset. So they reset my password again and all is working! Oh well...
Tnx
MikeR
