As far as outlook express is concerned, I know how the data can be storedas per users wish in any folder. But I am lacking of Microsoft outlook 2003 data storage know-how

Secondly what is the difference between Outlook Express & Microsoft outlook 2003.

Could anybody please clear out my doubts ?

Outlook Express and Outlook are very different. Outlook Express is strictly an email client with limited functionality.

Outlook mailboxes are stored as dbx files and are stored within the user's Windows Account. As far as I know, those files cannot be moved. Outlook is stored as on pst file and can the pst file can be stored anywhere the user wishes (with the default location in the users profile.)

Outlook includes Journaling, Calendar, Mail, Notes, Task Management and is much more robust. I've used Outlook for nine years, and I much prefer it over any other email client.

In Outlook 2003, you have the capability of creating subfolders for mail, categorizing mail, categorizing Contacts, etc. Rules can be much more extensively configured as well, as can all aspects of the mail, calendar, Contacts, Tasks, etc.

I believe that to use either program for Yahoo, you need to have the paid POP Yahoo account, but I'm not positive.

It's certainly your choice as to which program you want to use, but why not configure both (leaving mail on server) and see which one you prefer? Good luck.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

I switched to Outlook over Outlook Express, when Outlook '97 came out. I am now using Outlook 2007. As Jennifer stated Outlook is much more robust than O.E. I wouldn't switch back either.
As for saving those .pst files, there are two ways. If you scroll down the posts to the post named Outlook 2003 you will see two ways of doing it.

Hi,
I am thankfull to all of you for spotaneous response.
I would like to know whether we can change the path/location for pst. data (MS outlook) files in stand alone computer likewise how we change the same in Outlook express for dbx files ( through tools-options-maintience-store folder )
Is there any such provision or facility for change of location in MS-outlook ?

Please advise me on the same .

Thanks & Regards

Naveen,
The simple answer for Outlook is yes, but the question is why? As for Outlook Express, I quit using it so long ago, I do't have an answer.
When you do a backup of your Outlook .pst file you can store that file anywhere on your computer that you wish.
