Outlook express keeps shutting down

I am having trouble with Outlook Express closing itself after about 0ne minute regardless of whether I am using Outlook at the time. Settings have been checked and appear fine, the "disconnect after sending/receiving" is unchecked so that is not the problem (it's the first thing I thought it might be). If I am using Outlook and the internet is also open, outlook will still close but I do not lose my internet connection .... Please help
