Comment: This is not a question but a solution! When backing up my folders I somehow ran into a similar problem that I've seen other peolpe post here. I got a duplicate of my Personal Folders showing in the folder tree. I run Office 2000 and the options from right-clicking the Outlook icon is not available, neither could I find any real duplicate amongst my data files by going through the control panel. Whenever I tried to close the duplicate I got a message saying that I could not close the folder containing my calendar etc. After trying everything I could think of including changing registry entries (which was a suggestion on the Microsoft forum, but this did not either apply to my version of Outlook) without any success I just closed Outlook, renamed the appropriate data file (after making a backup), then re-opened Outlook and pointed it to the renamed folder when being asked about the file's location, when it opened again only the first instance of the folders had the characteristics of a real personal folders file and I got an error mesage when it tried to open the second instance saying that it could not be found or opened, I clicked ok and could now finally right-click the second instance and choose close folder, after that I closed Outlook again and now renamed my data file back to its original name and then opened Outlook one last time to repoint it to the newly renamed file. Distubingly hard for a simple error but there it is, I hope it can help someone else!
