Okay, before I explain this, I've already tried the fix, where I delete all my profiles, and add a new one and I've already gone into the registry and cleared out everything in the area with the Outlook profiles. I've also done a repair on Microsoft Office Professional.
I'm trying to connect to the exchange server for my work. I have outlook on my work desktop, but I wanted to access the server on my laptop. I had it working, but it was pulling in all my Novell GroupWise mail as well, so I deleted the profile and tried to create a new one with only the exhange server mail. This is what happens:
I choose, create a new profile, then I add a new e-mail account on the profile. I say that it's a Microsoft Exchange server account. Then, I type in the name of the exchange server and my user name. When I click "Check Name" I get a message saying "There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted." Then, if I click on the "More Settings..." button, I get the same message the first time I click on it, but the second time I click on it, I get this message: "This account or directory type already exists and cannot be specified twice." I get the same message if I try to click the "Next >" button. Then, if I click "Cancel", it asks says this: "If you want to create a profile with no e-mail accounts, click OK. If you do not want to create a profile at all, click Cancel." If I click "OK", then it creates a Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail account of type "Exchange (Default)" and I cannot change any of the properties for it. If I click on the "Change..." button, then the box comes up that I was having the problem with before. I cannot type in the location of the Exchange servar at all. If I click the "More Settings..." button, then I get this same message: "There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted."
Can someone please explain what is going on?!?!

What happens if you just try to configure your email account from Outlook's right-click menu on the desktop?
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.
