Outlook calendar

When viewing the the calendar in Outlook 2007 a small calendar of the whole month showing the dates appears in the top left hand corner.
Any dates on which there are appointments are highlighted in bold.
If however I go back more that a month, these highlights disappear even though there are still appointments on the respective dates
Please can someone advise how to get all the highlights back going all the way back into my calendar history
