Hi,
How can I get the email addresses to be completed automatically when I start writing so that I do not need to write it all out??
Thank you for your help!
Martie

If your addresses are updated within your address book then you need to just type in the first few unique letters of the address and Outlook will complete it for you.
You can also add the 'Check names' icon to the toolbar under View, Toolbars, Customize, Tools. It does the same thing.

Thanks, my address book is up to date & is not "over-loaded" still does not work ??? as for the 'Check names' it's working but still not "great" when you have almost the same names .. I welcome other suggestions
Thank you

I am not saying that there is or is not such a 3rd party software to accomodate your request but even then it would rely on the names and addresses that you have created.
Let's say you have 4 entries for the Jones family and 1 for Smith:
Jones, Gail and Mark - gmj@aol.com
Jones, Gerry and Sarah - gersar@aol.com
Jones, Sally and Steve - 12863@aol.com
Jones, Sarah - sarah682@aol.com
Smith, Tom - dude@aol.com
and you wanted to send an email to all of them. You have choices as to how to bring them up:
gai;ger;sal;sar;smi in the TO: section will find all five in a second or two.Another way:
gmj;ger;128;sar;tomSo, you can use the first couple of letters of the last name or the first couple of letters of the first name or the first couple of letters of the email address.
Or using the Check names:
jones;smi
and then select all four Jones addresses from the list. Smith will come up on it's own.If you had two similar like Gerry and Sarah Jones, and Sarah Jones but Gerry's address was listed as Sarah and Gerry, Jones then you would want or need to rename it to Gerry and Sarah to make it unique.
Outlook's built in tool works very good but only as good as your organizational skills will allow it to.
So, you input the names and if it can not auto complete them because the input was not unique then hit the Check Names button to find the correct/unique name of choice for that email message.

Thanks Bryan, the problem is that even doing the first couple of letters of the first name or the first couple of letters of the email address, does not "auto-complete" I tried having even only 1 name in the add. book. Something wrong I do?
Thanks
Martie

It will do nothing until you move the cursor out of the To: field.
You string them by placing ; (semi-colons) between them.
Once you type them out then just hit the Tab key to get to the next field and then they should just popup. No?
