Outlook 97 vista compatibility

I have been using Office 97 in vista for months with no problems. I do not like Windows Mail that comes with Vista. Recently, I tried to energize Outlook but cannot open it. Any ideas?

It was installed last year, but I had not used it. I tried to open it to use it for the first time. I got a message"Cannot open Outlook". I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, got same message twice.

My last post on 3/10 didn't make it. Maybe I'll do better this time. Thanks Jennifer. I was referring to office repair programs. There are several on the net and I thought that was what you were recommending I use. Maybe I should explain what I am trying to do. I just want an address book with the ease of use of Outlook Express. The one with vista is not as flexible and is prone to error. I felt that if I could get Outlook to work it would be satisfactory. I do not need the data base that Outlook provides. Joe
