Outlook 2k emails saved to outbox

Hi, This is a great site.. very helpful keep up the hard work.
I have a problem with outlook where once i send an email the email is not saved in the sent items folder, but it goes to the outbox.
The setting "Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder" is checked.
All settings are, as far as i know, as per usual.
Has anybody got any ideas or suggestions I would be greatly appreciative.

It will send messages initially to the outbox...then after it actually sends the email, the messages go to the sent box...
After you know you sent a message and the recipient has recieved it, is that message STILL in the outbox, or has it transferred to the sent box???

After a successful send the email remains in the outbox. It isn't transferred to the sent items at all. ?

I'm having this problem too. Messages with attachments like word docs or pdf's remain in the outbox and re resent when I click send/receive. This is a pain because it clogs the recipients' systems. Help would be great!
