Hello Everyone,

I'm currently running outlook 2007, with a .PST file of about 560MB, and two other .pst files of about 30MB each. All has been running great until about week ago. Now my "outlook today page" will not display and when changing from folder to folder it takes approx 5seconds, which is a huge delay from instant. Here is what I've tried so far.

1)disabled all ad-ins
2)compacted .pst, even though its small
3)disabled AVG outlook scanner
4)repair install office, restarted

I'm upgrading to SP3 and running all windows updates, can anyone think what could be causing this? I see others have had this problem, but not a sigle fix has resolved this yet. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this situation.

Thanks!

Do you have the Reading Pane open? Try setting Outlook to start in the Inbox rather than the Outlook Today folder. Have you installed SP1?

Thanks Jennifer,

Unfortunately, Turning the reading pane on or off does not increase the speed, still takes approx 5secs when changing folders.

I just installed SP3 and about 30 extra updates, but it's still running super slow

I also tested my RAM and Hard Drive to make sure their is no performace issues.

Any other Ideas???

By SP1 I meant Office 2007 SP1; not XP Service Pack.

Just for giggles, In Outlook go to the help menu and run Office diagnostics (used to be detect & repair) and run it to see if it can find any problems.

Create a new Mail Delivery file and see if that helps.

Thanks again Jennifer, I created the new Mail Delivery Profile, imported old mail into new .PST, still superslow when flipping threw folders.

Any other ideas? Thanks for all you help everyone. Hopefully one day it will just kick-in and start working fast again!!!! Stupid MS!!!

How fragmented is the drive where the pst resides?

My default mail PST is almost 600MB this one resides on my C: patition which is at 1% fragmentation. My D: drive that my two smaller 10MB PSTs reside is currently fragemented, I'm defragging right now.

Do you think the two smaller PST could be slowing my whole outlook, because of the drive they reside on?

It's so odd, twice now. I've been working with the slothly outlook for a few hours and then all of the sudden, its just starts to run fast again. Then I restart or open and close outlook and its back to slow!

Just scanned for trojans, spyware or any other junk and it did not come up with anything.

Just thought I would post an update on this never ending problem!
