Comment:

I had some Contacts and other data in Outlook 2000 on a PC that I exported as a .pst file, before shutting it down for a major upgrade. Imported the .pst onto a newer PC with Outlook 2003, merged/created a bunch of other contact files, and exported as a new .pst file. Now I want to import the Contacts folder in that new .pst created with Outlook 2003 back into Outlook 2000 running on the the upgraded machine. Tried several ways, but I get messages to the effect that Outlook 2000 can't recognize or import the Contacts folder from a .pst file created w/Outlook 2003. I've looked around on Microsoft site and can find nothing specifically about OL 2003 - OL 2000 compatibility. Anyone know if OL2003 Contacts can be transferred to and used by an OL 2000 machine, and how so? Thanx.

Export the contacts to a csv file, then import them into the earlier version of Outlook.

I had the problem of importing a .pst file to outlook 2000 that has been exported using outlook 2003. I installed Office Resource Kit . In Resource Kit Programs run "Custom Maintenance Wizard". In the next step put the 2003 CD in the drive and specify the location of the files. Following this you can create a new CMW file . Click next till you get the dialogue "Change Office User Settings". Click on Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. Click on miscellaneous and then PST settings. Change the preffered PST mode to " Enforce ANSI PST ".Finally copy the MaintWiz.exe to c:\ and in the command prompt change the drive letter to c:\> .
Run the command
MaintWiz.eze /c "Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\New Maintenance Data File.CMW " /qb-
