Hi,
I have a problem with Outlook 2003 whereby all office documents sent as attachments open as Read-Only.
Even if saved to hard drive or network location, they still stay read only unless you change the filename.
Any ideas?
Thanks :)

Thing is it's only happening to one particular user. All other's don't seem to get this.
If nothing else they can rename it, but it's just more annoying. :)

From what i could deduct, attachments sent as an embedded object (Rich text format) in the mail can be opened edited and saved in the email message itsself.
IF the mail has been sent in HTML or Plain Text then the attachments open as Read Only.
I tried it by sending to myself and that what i figured. You could ask someoen to send it to you in both ways and test it.

When using Outlook 2003 and opening an attachment straight from the Reading Pane, the document opens as Read Only and will always open Read Only while the Reading Pane is active (for HTML and Plain Text). Turning the Reading Pane off appears to correct this problem. To turn it off, go to View...Reading Pane...Off.
