In previous versions of outlook there was an issue with the preview pane enabling the spread of email viruses such as bugbear, does this problem still exist with outlook 2003? Has microsoft come up with a resolution?
For those souls desperatley searching for a way to Kill the Task Pane... I had this same stupid problem. It requires a registry hack. Here's the easiest solution:
1) Download and install X-Setup: http://www.x-setup.net
2) Launch X-Setup
3) Navigate to: Program Options > Microsoft Office > MS Office 2003 > Common > Task Pane Enforced Visibility.
4) Uncheck (see graphic) http://earlyretiremint.com/temp/killofficetaskpane.gif
5) Buy X-Setup (rediculously, it's only $8US and worth ten times that). Of course you can find an older free version if you are cheap or broke :)
