Outlook 2003 not opening

Hi All computer gurus...
i am in desperate trouble
my outlook 2003 will not open all of a sudden
i get the following message...
"cannot start outlook. unable to open outlook window. the set of folders could not be opened. the server is not available."
would anyone help?

Are you running through an Exchange Server or using a pst file?

i dont know.
i dont use outlook for my email, just for my schedule which only communicates with my handheld to sync.
