outlook 2003 duplicate emails

I have a few clients that are recieved duplicate emails. Each of the clients have outlook 2003 installed and are poping them from a outside mail server.
My setup is as follows. I have and exchange server with so many clients. the exchange server only deals with in house emails at the moment. Each client pops thier mail from mail.somewhere.com. For a quick fix I IMAP'ed the clients but I would prefer to use pop3.

Microsoft has a support article about this issue (http://support.microsoft.com): 885870 - Duplicate e-mail messages are downloaded from a POP3 e-mail server account in Outlook 2003

My understanding is that the fix is free, but you must contact Microsoft and provide them with your serial number to obtain it.
In the meantime, there's a program available for purchase from http://www.mapilab.com called Duplicate Email Remover which will identify and mark, move or delete duplicates messages that have already been received in Outlook 2003.
