I am having a problem with outgoing messages using Outlook 2002 on XP Pro. I can successfully send and receive a test message using the “Test Account Settings…” feature under Tools>Email Accounts… but messages composed and sent in the typical way within Outlook are not sent out from the outbox. When I click on Send/Receive incoming messages are received then, after several minutes, the following error message is generated:
Task 'JARMail - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC60) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: '
I have another computer running XP Home. Outlook has been set up and accessing our email server on this machine for two years with no problems. I have confirmed that the two computers have identical settings within Outlook. I am using SMTP port 465 and POP3 server port 995. My ISP is Everyone’s Internet and I use a dial-up connection.
Here is the (likely) relevant information about each computer:
XP Home (Dell Latitude 8100) O/S version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1
Outlook 2002 version 10.4712.4219
Firewall: McAffee Guardian version 3.00.1038.0
Anti-virus: McAffee Virus scan v6.02.3000XP Pro (HP Compaq nx9010) O/S version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1
Outlook 2002 version 10.2627.2625
Firewall: XP
Anti-virus: Norton (Symantec) version 8.07.17cI have tried turning off the firewall and have turned off virus scanning for outgoing messages. There was no change in behavior with either modification.
