Solved Outlook 2000 wont send

November 21, 2012 at 01:08:40
Specs: Windows 7 home premium 64bit, INTRL(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM /8GB

Outlook 2000
I have a new computer and as Outlook express won't install, I installed outlook 2000.I finally got it working but it will only download e-mails .It will only send e-mails that I reply to but will not send e--mails when I put the address in the "To" section of a new e-mail or retrieve them from my address book that I had previously added.
Also I can't find where to tell the program to keep addresses from e-mails received.
Hoping someone can help me.

✔ Best Answer

Outlook 2000 is not compatible with Windows 7, as verified by Microsoft on their Compatibility Centre website. You need Outlook 2003 or later.

I managed to find Outlook 2007 at a software store so I bought that when I got Windows 7 - no problems at all with it. But Outlook 2000 which I already had would not work properly at all, so you definitely need to upgrade it.

Windows Live Mail (that comes free with Windows 7 as part of Live Essentials) is the replacement for Outlook Express, or if you prefer just a straightforward mail client then Thunderbird (also free) is good. Both will work with Outlook Express data files.
