Outlook 2000 hangs when attaching

In a Lan environment (Exchange Mail Server 2003)running windows xp with sp2 when attaching a file on outlook 2000 the system hangs for about 30 seconds and then I can continue sending that attachment. The weird thing is at times this doesn't even occur. All help appreciated.
