When I click send/receive button, I couldn't get Outlook to send/receive/synchronize messages. I have an Earthlink and Hotmail account that I currently manage with Outlook Express. I'd like to switch to Outlook. Then, I exported the accounts from Outlook Express to Outlook 2000, so the account settings should be correct because they work fine with my Outlook Express. FYI, Outlook 2000 does not have a selection for HTTP email server, only POP3 and IMAP. Hotmail is an HTTP server. But it was imported to Outlook just fine (it seems). I also have the box to include these accounts when send/receive checked. However when I click send/receive button, there is no sending/receiving/synchronization going on. Well, the dialog shows that there is a receiving action for my Earthlink account, but it doesn't end up in any emails entering my inbox. And my Hotmail account (default) is completely ignored. Do I have a corrupt software? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem with Earthlink. Turns out that they changed the e-mail server address to mail.earthlink.net from pop3.earthlinkmail.net.
This was in my area only as friends of mine in Colorado did not have to change theirs at all.
Could try Earthlink tech support and see if they changed the server address in your area.
As to why it works with OE and not Outlook, I have no idea, but mine did the same as your after an import.
Larry

Thanks Larry for trying to help. I actually don't really care about my Earthlink account because I don't use it. My Hotmail account is what bothers me. Exporting the account from OE to Outlook looked just fine. I have exactly the same configurations in both, even though Outlook 2000 originally does not have the HTTP capability. Is this why? Do I need to upgrade to a newer version of Outlook to handle HTTP email accounts? But it does not answer why the Earthlink, which is a POP3 account, is not working too. So I think it's something else. Bill Gates, help!!
