Hi,

I am running Outlook 2003 on XP Pro. I have
an old PST which I need to access. I believe
it was exported from Outlook XP. When I
attempt to import the file I get the following
message:

not compatible with this version of the personal
folders information service

On searching I found many posts helping
people either move data from newer to older
versions of Outlook, or specific steps to export
the data from the older version which requires
that one has the older version of Outlook. I
find an ad for a tool that claims it could do the
conversion, but the price is $250!!

Any help or advice would be great!

Why not just open the data file? Then, you can move your emails/contacts, etc. to the current Mail Delivery file if you wish.

Open the data file... that sounds great! I only wish I could. It is a normal PST file created by Outlook XP. I cannot open the file using Outlook 2003. If I had Outlook XP, I would try it. All the articles I find discuss the problem in reverse... using older software to read a file created by newer software. The newer software is supposed to work with the older PST files. Is there another way to open the file? Thanks!

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to add that data file to your Data Folders list unless it's corrupt. How are you tryint to add it to the list? What errors are you getting?
