Not sure if I'm in the right place to pose this question or not, but I'll try. I'm using OO.org, the latest version 2.2. In trying to access OO.org base I'm getting the following message. JRE IS DEFECTIVE It goes on to say - OO.org requires a Java runtime environment to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under tools-OO.org-Java. I have done this three times and three times get the same result. I have checked the error data base, I get an error code :1000 which states - No Java installation could be found, please check your installation. I go to control panel and check installation and it shows Java version 1.6.0 installed. I check the Sun Java website and it shows it installed. I have totally shut down all security when performing these functions and still no good. Any suggestions to get Open Office to work correctly will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is no JRE 1.6. Make sure you're istalling the correct version, 1.5, 1.4 or 6.0

Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

I am using JRE 1.6.0_01 on my WinXP machine as shown in IE Tools, Internet Options, Advanced.

In Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs it shows as Java(TM)SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

I would recommend you make backup copies of all docs or databases in OO and then uninstall and reinstall it so that it sees the Java upon installation.

Regards,
Bryan
