I recently switched from a 10 GB Hard-drive to a 20 GB Hard-drive. Everything installed fine before w/the 10 GB HD ~ I am using the SAME OS (XP PRO) & using the SAME OFFICE XP PRO DISK....no dice... The only 'real difference' between the 2 HD's is that when the 20 GB was installing XP PRO, it never presented the option of choosing NTFS, FAT32, etc. (At least, this is what my b-friend claims happened...??) Anyhow, the 10GB was NTFS & the 20 GB is now FAT32...(am thinking of changing to NTFS in the future).

Getting back to the problem at hand ~~~
When I put Office XP Pro CD into CD-ROM, I get the following message:WINDOWS INSTALLER
-- ! --
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.---------------------------
The only info I could locate on "transforms" was as follows:E:\FILES\SETUP.ini
; Microsoft Office SETUP.exe settings file.
[MST]
; If a value is present, the MST section gives the full path to a transform to apply.
; Specify it in the form MST1=path to MST
; Remember to uncomment the value names.
;
MST1=corporate.mst
;MST1=D:\transforms\my transform.mst
****ADDITIONAL INFORMATION****
[MSI]
; If a value is present, the MSI section gives the name of the MSI file to install.
; This file must be in the same directory as setup.exe, and both must be in the root
; of the installation tree.
; If no value is present, setup.exe will look for exactly one file matching "*.msi"
; in its directory and if found, use that.
;
MSI=PROPLUS.MSI[Product]
ProductCode={*************************}
ProductName=Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage
ProductVersion=10.0.2606.0
Version=10.0
===================================
Needless to say, it is all 'greek-to-me'... A bunch of jibberish. Does MS really expect ACTUAL PEOPLE to be able to NOT ONLY DECIFER, BUT ALSO, UNDERSTAND this b*llsh*t???
Anyone out there know how to translate this into something a bit more "user-friendly"??
Much appreciated!!
