I recently upgraded to Office XP from 2000. Since I did it, I suddenly noted that addresses added to my "address book" in Outlook don't show up in the "Address book" but they do show up in my "Contacts" in Outlook.I accidently found this out when I was trying to add an address to my address book while in Word, Envelopes under the tools menu of Word. The dialog box states that it is getting the addresses from my "Contacts", but the addresses are not there when I search for them even though I can see them I my Outlook "Contacts" after I added them.
It acts like I have two contacts lists. One I can add addresses to, and the other is fixed. However when I am in my "address book" in Outlook, and add names and addresses, they show up in "Contacts" but not the "Address Book". Another, maybe related item, is that after I did the update, the email addresses in the outlook "Address Book" are attached to the "displayed name", like:
Joe Doakes(jdoaks@hotmail.com) instead of just Joe Doaks, as it used to do. I can erase the email address in the "displayed name" and everything is like it used to be. This problem I can solve, but I thought maybe it would have a bearing on the other problem.I am sorry for the length of the post but I am sure there is a good reason for all this. I just haven't been able to figure it out.

Does anyone search for anything anymore? LOL
I posted a fix to this a couple weeks ago.

I am experiencing the same problem with Office 2003 and the fix posted by Jennifer doesn't correct the problem. It appears when used in conjunction with some other programs, the Outlook Address Book will only show entries that have an email address. If you are trying to access an individual without an email or fax address, the display shows nothing at all as to that contact. I haven't been able to work around it yet.
