Hey, I think I'm up a creek, but before I run out and buy Office again, wanted to be sure. I have a new computer, and I'm trying to install Office Standard 2003. It was on my old computer, but now it's asking me to provide the CD ROM with a previous version of Office on it. I can't seem to find it. I must have it, or I wouldn't have been able to get it on the old computer, right? Is there anything I can do short of buying Office all over again? Thanks for any help.

SIW should find the Product Key under licenses.
It's freeware and will make a backup list of all your licenses and Product Keys.
A CD with the media to reinstall shouldn't be hard to find. Google it, check places like Pricewatch, PriceGrabber, et.
A friend maybe?? Use his CD and your PK!

Thanks for your response, but I'm a little confused. I have the Product Key ... But when I enter it, it says it's looking for a previous Office installation and can't find it. I guess what I did was buy an upgrade rather than a full version. Although it installed on the old computer, so I must have had some version on it somewhere. The old one crashed, so I don't have that anymore. I'm very confused.

That being the case my only suggestion is to do some deep searching for the correct CD.

Call Microsoft and explain the situation.

The worst they can say is "Buy a new copy."

The best they can say is "Let's see how we can make this work..."

As evil as MS is thought to be, they can't actually hurt you over the phone.

You were absolutely right, DerbyDad. They were able to help, and they didn't even make me buy a new copy. Thanks!

Glad I could help.

Sometimes the answer is as simple as can be, but we just don't see it. Been there quite a few times!
