Comment:

Is there a way to default saving to 97-2003 format, or will I have to always select the format before saving?

I don't know if this will help, but...

In Excel 2003 you can use the Tools...Options...Transition tab and choose 97-2003 format.

In Word & PowerPoint 2003 it's done via the Tools...Options Save tab.

In 2007, look for Options, then the Save tab, there you can select 97-2003 (.doc) as the default, has always worked for me.

If my memory serves you can also do the same with Access etc

It's not that I can't remember things as I get older, it's just that my hard drive's full.

Thanks, that did the trick. Not all the programs have the option, so I hope my boss is happy.

Sorry, I can't help with any of those other apps except than to say that not all applications will have the option in the same place. e.g. Excel 2003 has it under the Transition tab while Word and PowerPoint have it under the Save tab.

Maybe it's buried under some other tab in the other apps and you'll have to hunt for it.
